News and Updates
$10 to Change a Life - MGLCC's $10 for 2010 Campaign We're kicking off a new campaign called "Ten for Ten" to show how easy it is to help support the life-changing programs and services that we provide to the community. We're asking each of the estimated 45,000 gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer people in Shelby County (and our straight allies and supporters) to donate just $10 to this campaign. Just $10 to Change a Life - Think it's worth it? MORE INFO
MGLCC's 2009 Volunteers of the Year MGLCC's 2009 Volunteers of the Year were announced at last night's New Year's Eve Pre-Party.
Tim Smith - Tim is the former marine who appeared in one of our billboards for National Coming Out Day. Tim, like the others who participated, agreed immediately to help with our campaign. Little did he know what that would mean! Once his billboard was torn down by vandals, Tim found himself at the center of a media frenzy. Calls from around the country started coming in asking for interviews with him. Tim handled all of the attention with a sense of calm and determination to support every American's right to serve openly and honestly.
Deb & Steve Word - Simply put, Deb & Steve are the bedrock of our growing youth services. They've given in so many ways: providing food, access to jobs, transitional housing, clothes and Christmas gifts. Beyond that, they provide an oasis of stability for some of our youth in crisis as well as moral support for all the rest of us trying to meet the needs of our LGBTQ youth looking for assistance. To them, their faith is not just about words but actions, even when they're unsure of the next steps. An amazing inspiration to each of us.
MGLCC Receives $50,000 Grant to Expand Youth Services An amazing act of generosity has given us the chance to expand our youth services to address the growing need of our homeless LGBTQ youth. See press release for more info.
